$205 for Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet

According to iSuppli's itemized breakdown of parts, Samsung's new Galaxy Tab carries a Bill of Materials (BOM) totaling $205.22. That's a good chunk less than Apple's iPad, which breaks down to a little over $264 for the 16GB 3G version.

"Instead of matching up with the iPad on a feature-by-feature basis, the Galaxy Tab really is a larger version of Samsung's Galaxy smartphone," said Andrew Rassweiler, director, principal analyst and tear down services manager for iSuppli. "While the design approach makes the Galaxy less expensive to produce than the iPad 3G, it also makes for a product that lacks the same usability. The Galaxy Tab's screen resolution, size, and technology are not at the same level as the iPad. This is a critical difference, given the fact that the display is a key differentiating factor for the iPad."

As is typically the case, the most expensive part of Samsung's tablet is the display, which iSuppli pegs at $57. The Flash memory costs $51, and after that there's a steep dropoff in component prices, starting with the mechanical parts (PCBs, metals, plastics, connectors, etc.) that add up to $15.22.

Google Nexus Two by Samsung

After failed Nexus One with HTC, Google Nexus Two is being manufactured by Samsung Electronics.

However, according to an article over on Ubergizmo, there may well be a Google Nexus Two smartphone on the horizon, but apparently Samsung isn’t going to be pulled into the rumour mill on this one as apparently old Sammy has come right out and said the rumour of the Samsung nexus Two is false.

This of course means that no one will be seeing the Google Nexus Two make an appearance at the Samsung event scheduled for November the 8th as Samsung isn’t making the Google Android device, but apparently the Samsung Continuum for the Big Red will be unveiled during the event.

So there you have it, Samsung Electronics is saying no they are not involved in the making of Google’s second Android smartphone, so maybe it is back to HTC after all.

Samsung NX10 Hybrid DSLR

The Samsung NX10 was leaked back in December, Samsung has now officially announced their new Hybrid DSLR camera ahead of CES 2010.

The Samsung NX10 features a new camera format that is slightly bigger than Micro Four Thirds and slightly smaller than standard DSLR cameras, it can shoot HD video in 720p at 30 frames per second and it features a 14.6 megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor.
